FAQs

Padded camera compartment with re-configurable dividers:
3.75” deep x 11.5” long (at the longest point) x 6.5” wide (at the widest point)

It’s important to note that the panel dividing the camera portion and the upper daypack portion is specially designed to flex upward, allowing items taller than 3.75” to fit, while still providing protective padding.

This allows it to accommodate DSLRs up to the size of the Canon 6DMkII. It is ideally sized for mirrorless cameras and drones.

Unfortunately, the Cube pack is only designed to nest in the McKinnon Camera Pack 35L and will not fit inside the McKinnon Camera Pack 25L.

Not worth the money

"I have had this backpack for a little over a year and the waterproof coating has flaked off. I have emailed the company over the last few months and I’ve had no reply not even an acknowledgement of the e-mail Certainly not very durable."

Awesome Daypack

"This is the perfect bag for a day trip. It holds the camera and three lenses perfectly, plus other items you might need."

Tony (5/5)

Best light and versatile bag

"Best light backpack. I love it. It helps me roam around the city without having to use my larger bags. It protect well while in the larger backpack and it’s very durable. Highly recommend."

Paul H. (5/5)

So versatile!

"By far, the most underrated product they probably have. It is so easy to pack, and great for those day adventures where you need protection for your camera gear, but also a place to carry your essentials! And it keeps it all dry!"

Jordan (5/5)

Very robust and functional solution for travellers

"Love the cube / bag concept. What is missed by many is that you can purchase straps to enable a tripod or jacket to be strapped to the base of the pack just don’t put the bag down into a puddle!)… Also, although this fit nicely into many larger backpacks, including the AER Travel Pack 3, you can also turn this cube into a fanny pack, using the Nomatic waist strap, for travelling to and from your destination when there is no space left in the main bag because of all the souvenirs that have been bought."

Peter S. (5/5)

compact storage to quick day bag

"I decided to bring this to work and use it on sunny days to take my camera and lunch out to the park. It's compact as a cube in my drawer and when I open it up, lunch, sweater, and hat go inside. If I want to carry more gear, I can pop a small camera cube into the backpack portion. I do wish it had maybe a mesh pocket in the cube lid and maybe a pocket or two in the backpack part."

Sara (5/5)

Well made

"I think it's handy to have a backpack that you can put in as part of the PM camera bag. I used it here and there, and it's nice to have a safe place to place the camera and an upper bag. I don't use it as much as I thought I would. I fit the fling in my camera bag and use that more. It is useful but flimsy on the bag portion, (as far as bags go) and I like a more comfortable bag, but I also like to carry a lot of gear."

David K. (4/5)

Love it

"I just miss a place for a water bottle"

Flávio H. (5/5)

Terrible material

"It’s only been 2 months since I started a backpacking trip in Europe and the bag already started tearing apart. The material is not as good as is advertised and it is not a functional as it could be cause is too damn big to put it in a backpack or carry on. It takes too much space. I wouldn’t recommend this bag if you want it for long term since clearly it won’t last more than 2 months."

dvega19 (1/5)

Great quality, missing shoulder strap!

"Love the quality and convivence when in Backpack config. When collapsed it is virtually worthless because it doesn't have a strap. Was close to being the best of both worlds, just needed a strap when collapsed."

Q&A

Would there be a solid way to attach a carabiner to this bag closed up and attach it to my backpack on a backpacking trip?
Yes! the Cube Pack has four low-profile loops on the bottom where cord could be passed through or carabiners attached.
Any idea if a Nikon D750 be able to fit in here with a lens on?
Hi Nomi, The Cube pack should accomodate the D750. The dimensions look very similar to a Canon we have that fits. The top of the cube/floor of the pack area has built in flex that lets even taller cameras sit upright. Of course it also depends on the size of the lens. Hope that helps.
Is this compatible with the Travel Pack?
Hi Josh, The Mckinnon Cube Pack is not specifically designed to be integrated with the Travel Pack, however, you can fit it in there while the Cube Pack is collapsed.
How are the zippers for pickpocketers?
Hey VJ, you could use a TSA lock on the main backpack zipper compartment to guard against pickpockets. The bottom zipper does not have a way to lock, but when closed, it would be very difficult for someone to open while you are wearing it.
